pretty rare to find a custom from Noll and especially one with the name in big letters on the deck as this one is.
pretty clean board over all with the foam still pretty white
this one has a good outline and nice rocker too. kinda like the hybrid boards we are surfing on these days. well ahead of its time in shape

the bottom side and what makes this board interesting are two things. this board has a very turned down rail on the tail and the shape is like a balsa board from the 50s. the other thing is that the rails in the middle are chined and i have never seen one from the 60s that has this on it

this is a very rare 10'2 greg noll stemwinder. greg only made these boards for 3 or 4 weeks in 1967 and most of them were shipped to the east coast. this one came from the east coast and I think it was never ridden.
i think this stemwinder was never used or surfed and its on display at the noll surf shop

A HISTORY MAKING DAY OF RIDDING MY NOLL BIG WAVE GUN
me and my buddy nolan holding my big wave gun just before nolan gives it a try at the big wave contest
nolan with the gun all waxed up and ready to hit the big ones . can you believe a 60's big wave gun going out in 20 foot plus waves today
nolan by the ski getting ampted up to go out
peter the driver of the ski getting ready to load the board. boy you should have seen me as i was freaking out about my board thinking that this valuable board might be coming back in two pieces or damaged but i was even more worried about the fate of my friend.
all loaded up and ready to hit the waves. so the end of the story is that they tried twice to get out but the board keep coming off the ski. just think if they had made it out and nolan caught one wave this would have made history as not one big wave gun from the 60's has been surfed in a big wave event since the 60s
